Giving Tuesday

Tuesday, December 2, 2025 is Giving Tuesday. This is a day to honor generosity and encourage people to support nonprofits that rely on donations. We wanted to highlight some of the ways in which we supported the cats in our care as well as our rescue partners:

Veterinary and Medical: We have spent about $6900 this year on the cats in our care, and we will have one more bill tomorrow after Dewey has two molars extracted. Other expenses in this category include multiple spay/neuter surgeries, Olive’s cardiologist visit, vaccines, flea treatments, dewormers, prescription food when needed, and so on.

Assisting Rescue Partners: When we bring cats in from our partners, we try to reimburse them for out-of-pocket expenses they may have incurred (spay/neuter, FeLV/FIV testing, microchips, etc). We have also supported some independent trappers with vetting expenses, even when we haven’t brought that particular cat into the lounge, as these are individuals working solely as volunteers with no one to help with expenses. We have also held several fundraisers throughout the year to assist trappers with TNR reimbursements and food. To date, we have been able to help our partners with roughly $3100 in reimbursements and have helped with food valued at about $3800.

Our Own Expenses: The lounge has its own fixed costs, regardless of how many cats are in our care. Rent, utilities, insurance, and security cost approximately $3500 each month. Visits to the lounge and purchases from our lobby shop help with these expenses. Food, litter, cleaning supplies, lounge supplies, and enrichment for the cats are all on top of that.

We continue to be grateful for every adoption, donation, visit, and purchase. Our mission is to help rescued cats and kittens find safe, loving, permanent homes, and that includes finding adopters who agree with our indoor-only philosophy, adopters who agree that single-kitten syndrome is something to try and avoid, and adopters who agree that putting that cat’s needs at the center of the adoption conversation is paramount.

If you would like to be a part of our mission, there are many ways you can help:

Make a financial donation online
Drop off a check or cash at the lounge
Visit the lounge and encourage others to visit, too
Make a purchase in our lobby shop
Shop our wishlist at Chewy or Amazon
Drop off in-kind donations at the lounge
Follow us on social media and share our posts
Adopt from us!

From all of the volunteers and all of the cats we help (here in the lounge, with our partners, and living on the streets), thank you!
