General Cleaning Duties

2 min read

Most cleaning supplies can be found in the food/litter room. The bathroom has a broom, dustpan, paper towels, etc., as does the room with the kennels.

On days we are open to the public please do all of the following:

  • Sweep the lobby, lounge, and food/litter room. The Dyson vacuum and dust mop work well for picking up fur and dust.
  • Vacuum the rugs (be sure the brush roll is engaged).
  • Steam clean the floors.
  • Wipe down wand toy handles, the arms of the chairs, door handles, and other high-touch surfaces with Clorox wipes.
  • Wipe down the blue tables using Simple Green.
  • Scoop all cat boxes.
  • Clean up spilled litter around pens, kennels, etc.
  • Use a lint roller to clean throw pillows, pads on benches.
  • Tidy up toys, shelves, furniture.
  • Take out all of the trash every morning.
  • Large trash bags are on the bottom shelf where clean blankets and towels are stored.
  • Small bags for the trash near the Keurig are also on that bottom shelf.
  • Small trash bags are also kept in the bathroom. If you can’t find any or use the last one, extra rolls are on the same shelf as the large trash bags.
  • Extra paper towels, tissues, and toilet paper are in the bathroom. If you use the last of something please replace it; if we are completely out of something make a note of it on the volunteer whiteboard.
  • Rags for general cleaning are on the bottom of the metal shelves directly to your left as you enter the food/litter room.
  • The laundry basket for rags, blankets, etc. is on the top of the metal shelves where cat litter is stored.
  • The laundry basket for large beds and other bulky items is in the far back area, just to the right of the door at the end of the hall.
